I wanted to reach out to you and let you know that here at Sonita's Designs we are concerned about you! We understand the affect COVID-19 is having on your daily lives. Our new norm is living, working, and entertaining ourselves in our homes. For many this can be extremely difficult. As a wardrobe stylist I understand that clothing and accessories are not essential items right now but I want to encourage you to take this time to cope and implement a self care routine that includes your wardrobe. Though we are staying at home it is important to feel good about yourself inside and out. According to a study at the University of Hertfordshire, what you wear definitely has and impact on productivity, as long as it is designated as work attire. 80% of communication is non verbal, which means that people see you before they hear you. We are using video conferencing and innovative ways to communicate while working from home. As a result, we are not in our traditional work attire; this is a perfect time for you to reinvent your work attire wardrobe.
Ladies I know how hard it is to feel good and look good when you are working, taking care of children, and managing your home; clothing is the last thing you are thinking about! Soooo.... I will think about it for you! Here are some easy tips when choosing your outfit for the day, during this stay -at- home mandate.
1. First, take some time to reflect and pray, meditate on the word of God before you get your day started. Psalm 91 is my go to.
2. Choose a cotton blend jumpsuit or set. You may also choose a comfortable top and jeggings as well. Cotton material is comfortable on the skin and ideal if you are sitting at a desk in your home. Depending on the blend it will not rise up and remains comfortable through out your busy day.
3. If you are conducting a Zoom meeting try a jersey dress or top with a matching earring/necklace set. In addition, a stylish blouse is also an option. You can wear your choice of bottoms(besides no one will see them). You will still remain comfortable and the accessories will add a pop of color and style while on screen.
4. Lastly, if you like to work from your couch, try a cozy hoody. A hoody brings a sense of relaxation. This piece is great while working on intense projects or tasks, it breaks the tension & pressure of timelines and due dates.
I hope these four tips will help you adjust and cope during this time of isolation. Remember to like our page on Facebook! Stay tuned for live information during our Style Tip Sunday's live from my personal closet!
